Most people come to us with an idea already in mind. They’ve read about acupuncture for arthritis, or they want a home-cooked diet for a cat with kidney disease.
That’s a good place to start, but it’s rarely the whole answer. So the first consultation looks at the patient as a whole: their medical history, previous tests and imaging, current medications, what they eat, how they move, how they behave at home, and what you’re hoping for. Then we build one plan together.
What the plan can include
Integrative care means using conventional veterinary medicine alongside other approaches where they’re appropriate. Depending on your pet, a plan might bring together:
- Conventional medicine: diagnosis, medication and monitoring, working with your regular vet.
- Acupuncture, often as part of a pain-management or recovery plan.
- Veterinary nutrition: a diet review, or a recipe formulated for your pet.
- Herbal medicine, where it suits the case.
- Gut health testing and microbiome testing, when the gut is part of the picture.
- CBD, prescribed and monitored by a vet.
Not every pet needs every part. Some need one small change; others need several things working together over time.
Who it tends to suit
- Pets with long-term conditions such as arthritis, spinal disease, kidney disease or chronic gut problems.
- Older pets, where comfort and mobility matter as much as anything.
- Complex cases, where several conditions or medications overlap.
- Owners who want a second opinion, or a plan that pulls everything together in one place.
How it works
- Send an enquiry. Tell us about your pet and what’s going on.
- We get back to you by email to talk it through and ask for your pet’s records.
- Dr Tristan comes to you for a full examination at home, and you go through the options together.
- You get a written plan, and it changes as your pet does.
